What makes a good story? How can we use real-life experiences to write more compelling narratives? In this class, we look at story elements from our own lives—characters, setting, plot— and then fictionalize, making sure we ramp up the tension to engage readers. Write about characters who get lost at the zoo, get trapped in their favorite video game, or get left behind on a field trip. Follow in the footsteps of beloved authors such as J.K. Rowling, Jeff Kinney, and Roald Dahl by creating characters to fall in love with and storylines your readers won’t want to see end.
