Through the month of February, we had asked our writing community to write what LOVE IS in their own words in about one line or so. This includes responses from every workshop we ran, every event we participated in, staff, and social media.
We then strung all of the responses together into one giant collaborative community poem. Below is our 2024 LOVE IS poem by the Project Write Now writing community … We hope you enjoy it!
Love can mean so much.
Love is everything to me.
Love is important.
Love is beautiful and kind.
It has no gender or religion and it fills your whole being.
Love is endless.
Love is a feeling that means something.
Love is meaningful.
Love is desire.
Love is a feeling you can’t explain.
Love is the thing that you think of before bed and after.
Love is when I’m seeing the sundown and wake up again.
Love is patience, understanding, joy.
Love is heartwarming.
Love is powerful. Love is very strong.
Love is unconditional and universal.
Love is good. Love is great.
Love is awesome.
Love is fun. Love is an adventure. Love is play.
Love something fun to do.
Love is something that you can enjoy.
Love is cute. Love is nice.
Love is something that makes you feel nice.
Love is a nice emotion.
Love is considerate.
Love is being cared for.
Love is deep connection.
Love is inner peace.
Love is happiness. Love is a drive of happiness.
It’s some type of feeling.
Love is our true nature.
Love is from the heart.
Love is personality.
Love is something that can’t be taken for granted.
Love is something you can’t see, but you can feel inside of you.
Love is something that isn’t forced, it comes out naturally.
You can love anything or anyone.
Love is listening with your ears open and your mouth shut.
Love is really understanding someone else.
Love is, when, without saying a word, or exchanging a look,
the love of your life knows exactly when you need them
to take your hand.
Love is when you care about someone
and never forget about how much they feel
and never forget about them.
Love is caring.
Love is when you like something but even more and you really care for it.
Love is when you care or are involved with something.
Love is when you share with other people.
Love is what you share with other people.
Love is when you show kindness and love to things and people.
Love is giving and taking one’s fair share.
Love is sacrificing everything for someone else.
Love is kissing someone before they brush their teeth.
Love is having someone to care for you when you’re sick.
Love is accepting others for who they are, faults and all.
Love is someone who cares for you always, not just at certain times.
Love is expressed.
Love is a warm feeling like a hug throughout the day.
Love is your heart knowing the course without you giving directions.
Love is when you care about something or someone.
Love is something that you cherish, enjoy, and tolerate all the time.
Love is always having you on my mind.
Love is your happiness and smile.
Love is noticing these little details about you.
Love makes my heart smile.
Love is spreading joy.
Love is something you can keep forever.
It can be a person, pet, friends, and family.
Love is real.
Love is like an organ in your body, you can’t live without it.
You need to love.
Care about the people you love.
Love each other.
Love is showing that you care about people.
I love my parents.
Love is when I hug my mom.
Love is my mom’s “lalalalala.”
Love is being a mom.
Love is the feeling you get when seeing your mother happy.
Love is my mom’s food.
Love is my dad’s advice.
Love is my dad’s “yum yum.”
Love is a summer day with my girls.
Love is time I spend with my son.
Love is flying half way ’round the world
to reunite with my child for the first time,
wondering how it is we were living separately in the first place.
Love is a grandchild’s laughter.
Love is friends.
Love is when I see my friends at school.
Love is the friend who says she dislikes hugs,
but when only you ask, she allows herself to be embraced.
Love is when you love your real friends, not fake ones.
Love is that one boy.
Love is when you love a girl.
Love is that one person.
Love is having feelings for a person that genuinely makes you happy.
Love is when someone makes you happy.
Love is when people get married. They love each other.
Love is something or someone that you think is special to you or important.
Love is family.
Love is spending time with my family.
Love with your sibling is feeling you can kill that person for a packet of chips
but still love that person to death.
Love is funny sometimes.
Love is when I hug my brother when I’m sad.
Love is when I hug my sister when I am sad.
Love is my brother’s “jajajajaja.”
Love is my oldest sister’s help.
Love is my little sister’s little laugh.
Love is smiles and giggles with the ones you cherish.
Love is hugging people, family and friends.
Love is when I see my birds.
Love is when you have a pet bird, Polly.
Love is my bird’s small chirps.
Love is when I hear my birds sing.
Love is when my birds get out of the cage and start hawking.
Love is a fluffy floof.
Love is cats.
Love is a purring cat.
Love is my dog.
Love is my dog because I always like playing with my dog, Oreo.
Love is this small creature squeezing every last minute he can into our walk,
clinging on to the remaining quality time we have.
Love is dogs.
Love is animals.
Love is the thing that makes you happy.
Love is the things you enjoy doing
with no one to stop you from doing them.
Love is waking up every morning.
Love is lattes in the afternoon.
Love is a kind word on a cold day.
Love is playing in the snow.
Love is a simple reprieve from daily life.
Love is the dawn, sun growing gold and yellow rays over the sea sick plains.
It sets and rises, changes and loses leaves,
but it’s always there, even during the dark.
I love walking and talking to myself.
Love is nature.
Love is plants. Love is flowers.
Love is a quiet mind.
Love is sleeping.
Love is drawing.
Love is a hot cup of tea.

Love is when I get to eat tamales on the weekend.
Love is cheese fries. Love is chips. Love is French toast.
Love is when I get out of school and I can play.
Love is the mall.
I love my plushies.
Love is money.
Love is an easy, 3 time payment of $39.99.
Love is playing on the internet.
Love is watching TikTok.
Love is when I watch Squid Games.
Love is video games. Love is playing video games.
Love is Fortnite.
Love is when I play Roblox.
Love is gaming.
Love is playing sports.
Love is football.
Love is soccer.
Love is basketball.
It brings me passion, dedication, determination, and joy.
Love is when you like something like basketball.
Something I like from basketball is shooting.
Love is a strong feeling you get when you successfully reach your goals.
Love is singing. Love is a piano.
Love is music.
Love is a good song.
Love is Tracy Chapman singing “Fast Cars” from the Grammy awards.
Love is going to the car wash
to feel something when the noodles hit your windshield.
Love is thoroughly changing.
Love is unionizing.
Love is a zombie. A zombie with a warm heart. Pulsing. Cheating death.
Love is like a fart. If you have to force it, it’s probably crap.
Love is possible, you just need to be patient.
Love is something that comes to you when you’re ready.
Love can happen even when you feel ugly.
Love can be hard.
Love can be painful.
Love can be a short-lived sentiment.
Love can come and go.
Love is dangerous.
Love hurts sometimes.
Love is stressful.
Love is difficult.
Love is real, but confusing.
Love is full of surprises.
Love is colorful.
Love is different. Love is weird.
Love is special. Love is unique.
Love changes your perspective.
Without love, there is no us.
Love lies everywhere if you have a pure heart to see.
Love is something that will always be with you.
Love can come from anyone.
Love is deserved by everyone.
Love is everything and anything;
it doesn’t matter where you are or how you are.
Love is everywhere.
Love is God.
Love is people.
Love is love.
Love is an empty notebook waiting to be written in.
Love is a letter.
Love is books.
Love is a good gay story.
Love is poems from you.
Love is continuing to turn the page.
Love can be found at any part.
Love is a finished book.
Love changes lives.
Love is life.
Love is an open-ended question.
And love is the answer.
