Biography
Jennifer fell in love with the workshop style of teaching writing at Teachers College. Amazed by what young writers could produce with notebooks, freedom, and a supportive environment, she’s used this method while teaching writing to children in New York City’s foster care system, as a public high school English and creative writing teacher in Rumson, N.J., and during her creative writing workshops at her private studio in Fair Haven, N.J. Jennifer’s passion is showing students that their voice matters and how they can use their words to impact others. By writing and sharing our stories, we open pathways to understand one another better, generating empathy. In addition to her teaching experience, Jennifer has nearly 30 years’ experience as a professional writer. She began as the managing editor of Teacher Magazine and has continued as a freelance writer. Jennifer has a Masters in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from Villanova University. In her free time, she enjoys walking in nature, yoga, gardening (a recent adventure), and spending time with her family.
