Biography
Since she was a young child and stumbled upon the book, Bunnicula, Lisa has always been passionate about writing. Lisa writes poetry and flash fiction daily as part of her “one sentence a day” project she began in 2016, and she is also currently working on her first young adult novel. She has been previously published in the Pitkin Review, the Atlantic Highlands “Herald,” and Collage, Brookdale’s literary magazine. In 2019, Lisa won first place in the Laury Egan HBAC Poetry Contest, and in 2014, she took third place in the Jersey Bayshore Writing Contest for flash fiction. Lisa encourages her students to be confident and to believe that writing can be fun. She loves being a part of the Project Write Now team. When she’s not writing or teaching, Lisa enjoys going to the beach, drawing, painting, and spending time with her cat. Lisa has her MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College and her BA in English from Montclair State University. You can read her work on her website, lisahartsgrove.com.
