Dear Friends of Project Write Now:
Last Monday, I honored the 17th anniversary of my mom’s passing by taking an early morning walk with the sunrise. As I watched the sunlight shift through the trees, I reflected on how much my life has changed—how much I’ve changed—since her death.
Writing has been a key part of my transformation.
Writing gave me a way to process my grief upon losing my parents, rediscover myself after my divorce, and create a career and life filled with meaning and purpose.
Writing helped me conceive Project Write Now.
And now this month, we celebrate 10 years!
I am so grateful to YOU for being a part of this journey, for embracing PWN and helping build this incredible community. And I am especially grateful for The Project Write Now Team for believing and trusting in our mission and for sharing their talents and passions every day.
When we opened our doors in the fall of 2014, we had only one adult class with three students and a single community partner. But we were driven by a simple belief—that everyone, regardless of age and background, deserves a supportive space to write and share their stories.
What we didn’t realize was the tremendous impact we would make. Over the past decade, we’ve partnered with more than 100 organizations, helping thousands of people transform themselves and their lives through writing, including:
- Children and teens discovering voices they didn’t know they had, unlocking talents that often go unseen in traditional classrooms
- Adults experiencing their lifelong dreams of being writers, with many seeing their work published
- Teachers finding renewed passion for their own creativity as they’ve become empowered to incorporate expressive writing in their classrooms
- Individuals in organizations fostering deeper connections with one another, which generates greater understanding and empathy among their teams
Writing is more than a skill—it’s a way of being. It helps us process, reflect, and understand who we are and what we’re capable of. It helps us imagine and create into existence the lives we desire.
When writing happens in community, it builds something even more powerful—connections, empathy, and trust.
And ripples of hope.
We would LOVE for you to join us for our Ripples of Hope river cruise on Sunday, September 22, as we kick off our 10-year celebration. We’ll share stories, laugh, enjoy light bites, and listen to live music as we sail across Sandy Hook Bay, honoring the Autumn Equinox—a perfect balance of day and night.
A perfect way to celebrate! ❤️
With love & gratitude,
Jennifer Chauhan
