(ages 10-15)
If you love to write and want to give songwriting a try, or if you’re already writing songs, Songwriting Intensive is an in-depth experience designed for you! We begin by practicing deep listening skills and analyzing song structure, as well as creating our own “song maps.” We learn a “cinematic approach” to songwriting and move into writing original song lyrics as a group. There are opportunities for those who want to work individually as well. We offer class critiques where we learn tips, tricks, and fixes that can make any song stronger. Midway through the week, we set our lyrics to music. Mimi Cross is an experienced guitar player, and if you play an instrument or sing, you are welcome to assist in finding just the right melody to go along with our words. Have fun with this unique writing experience that is both an art and a craft while also meeting new friends and expressing yourself in a supportive environment. No songwriting or musical experience necessary. Past participants of PWN’s Songwriting Studio and Performing Songwriter are welcome!
