This month, we turned to our PWN Teen team of college interns who’ve been busy helping us design and create our new PWN Teen website and programming (coming soon). They also are the masterminds behind our PWN Teen Instagram. Each week, they inspire us with their innovative ideas, their enthusiasm, and their creative vision, so we thought, why not find out what they are reading, listening to, watching, and eating?
Here’s what they had to say …
March 2021:
What we’re reading …
Koye Oputa is reading contemporary short stories, including “Ghosts,” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, “Remedies,” by Kali Fajardo Anstine, and “Leaving Women,” by Andria Nacina Cole. “Each story is a thirty-minute snapshot inviting you to learn about a new world as you take a break from your own.”
Listening to …
Adrianna Barazotti has been listening to the Mile Higher Podcast created by Mile Higher Media on Spotify. “Josh Thomas and Kendall Rae host this podcast series on true crime! It covers a range of stories from cold cases to conspiracy theories, and makes for a great motivator to listen to while running (a favorite habit of mine). The pair maintains an animated and exhaustive discussion on different topics. More often than not, I find myself running a little bit faster from that residual chill of the unanswered questions and uneasiness that comes with the potential for conspiracy.”
Watching …
Abigail Fenn has been watching the show Grimm (formerly on NBC for about six seasons, 2011-2017, and currently only available on Amazon Prime). “The show follows a homicide detective who finds out he is descended from a line of hunters who fight supernatural forces. It’s an engaging paranormal show with great action, good relationships, and a wonderful array of mythology/mythological creatures. It’s very entertaining and a good watch for any supernatural lover.”
Eating …
Jillian Buckley has been enjoying minestrone soup lately, whether it’s homemade or store-bought. “The flavorful broth and endless variety of vegetables make it the ultimate comfort food during the winter months. Also, in preparing it yourself, you can customize the soup any way you’d like, use it as a meal prep staple, and save it for other people to take a burden off of their shoulders.”
Miscellaneous …
Eva Krause has been following the art work of Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara. She loves the original style, edginess yet cuteness, and warm colors of their work. She keeps up with Nara on the app “Artsy.” Eva owns a reprint of Nara’s work and a book of their art collection.
