Exploring Fiction: From Discussion to Draft
Get in the fiction writing habit.
Everyone loves a good story, but not everyone knows how a good story works. In this class, we read novel excerpts and short stories and discuss them together, and then we write our own pages in response to the readings. This class is perfect for students interested in learning more about the craft of fiction or for writers who want to get in the habit of fiction writing. Community, craft, and creativity benefits everyone!

“Nothing beats the power of a well-told story. For me, discovering a novel or a piece of short fiction that I just can’t stop thinking about is pure magic. In this class, we are going to talk about that fiction magic and try our hands at creating some magic of our very own. Some weeks you might be asked to read a few pages as homework, but all writing will be done in class through prompts and exercises. No prior experience necessary, just a love of reading and a desire to write.”
