Flash Fiction & Memoir
Explore the short form to strengthen your narrative voice.
Join us as we explore the craft of flash fiction and memoir. Each week, we read a mentor text and discuss how the author uses narrative techniques—such as characterization, conflict, and setting—in short-form writing. We experiment with various word counts, generate ideas through in-class writing, and discuss the structure, pacing, and narrative thread of our pieces. Walk away with fresh ideas and the confidence to prioritize quality over quantity.

Meet Your Instructor: Courtney Harler
“Practicing short-form writing can be a wonderfully beneficial exercise for all prose writers. With word-count limits, we learn both precision and concision—in essence, we learn how to hone the work for maximum impact.”
