Have you written a poem and need feedback? Or you have been asked to offer feedback on someone else’s early draft of a poem? How do you respond in a way that is both helpful and honest? Critiquing new drafts can be daunting work for the poet/writer and the critic/reader. The writer might feel vulnerable or afraid and the reader might feel underqualified, unhelpful, or misguided. The good news is you don’t have to be an experienced poet to respond well to poetry. All you need are guiding questions and a knack for close reading. During this two-hour workshop, we guide you through a step-by-step process that includes reading aloud, going through the poem line-by-line, and working in small groups to formulate responses. You are welcome to share your own poetry for feedback.
Please note: this workshop is hosted by Zoom video conferencing. A link will be emailed to you to join. If you have any questions about how to use Zoom, please email us at email@example.com.
